Children’s Curriculum Branding

These next few projects are branding projects I worked on for the Children’s Ministry team they range from series branding to a series of branded booklets to campus specific event branding. Each project helped me to extend my skills as a design and unleash more of my playful creativity.

The Problem:

In this project, I was tasked in revamping the design for a the Children’s Ministry Follow Jesus booklet. This is a curriculum piece that is a big part of their Children’s Ministry mission. The booklet helps to teach kids how about their faith, and how to continue to grow in relationship with God. The Children’s team wanted to update their booklet to not be associated with a specific message series but be designed to fit within the children ministry brand. They also decided to separate the booklet into three separate books Discover Jesus, Follow Jesus, Grow with Jesus. Each of which can stand on their own while also feeling like a united series of books.

The Solution:

I created an series three booklets that leaned on the Children’s Ministry branding while also expanding the branding elements to include new pieces that can be implemented in the brand for the future. Each of the booklets are handed out to the children based on where they are at in their faith journey and was designed and targeted towards both the use of the children and as an informational tool for the parents. I implemented the use of color as a distinction while also using pattern and illustration as a tool to unite the three books. My aim was for playfulness and approachability while also creating clean and clear design for the informational pieces to be digestible.

The Problem:

In this project, I asked to create Children’s Ministry fall kickoff event for a specific campus called Bring your Grownups to Church. This event is targeted towards families with children that attend the kids service on the weekend and to reach out to other families we don’t yet attend. It is meant to be a good introduction to children’s ministries and also a good place for parents to see what the kids services are like. The Children’s Ministry team wanted the brand to feel fun and playful and connected to the ministry branding. The deliverables that were asked for included, printed handouts, social graphics, e-notes, side screens and directional signage for in the building. All of these awesome deliverables are able to extend the brand and hopefully be used in the future for another similar event because the branding is rooted in the Children’s Ministry brand.

The Solution:

I created a brand and lots of fun deliverables for the Bring Grownups to Church Children’s Ministry event. I presented the Children’s team with lots of iteration options and they landed on a version that used gradient map with the teal and orange brand colors and a bold yet playful typeface. I also used texture and color to add playful energy with restraint to convey the important event information clearly.

The Problem:

For this project I was asked to create branding for the Children’s Ministry Easter series. The series is titled Everyone’s Invited, the design was created for kids in first through fifth grade. The Children’s Ministry team asked that the design be a party theme, they wanted it to feel bright and colorful and a big celebration (think piñata, glow stick, confetti, a disco ball). This project came with lots of deliverables including, Series brand art, side screens, an invitation tool that kids and parents will be given to invite others to church, a coloring sheet, curriculum page for the teachers, posters, and social and web graphics.

The Solution:

I created a brand that encompassed party and celebration and felt connected to the first through fifth grade age group. The art is bright and also still feels connected to the Children’s Ministry brand. The design is fresh and exciting while also being very versatile with the number of deliverables that needed to be created from it. I am excited to share this art soon, once the project is live at Eagle Brook Church.
