Weekend Message Series Branding
The Problem:
In this project, I was tasked to create a brand of the weekend message series following Christmas. The series was titled Inside Out: Making Sense of Your Emotions. This series is about finding peace within anxiety and navigating the challenges of our emotions and mental health in alignment with faith in God. The creative direction I received was to create art that would be a a bright spot in peoples lives at the start of the month of January after end of all excitement around the holidays and in one of the more challenging months of the winter in the Midwest. The hope is that the topic of mental health can be one that’s relatable and the series can offer hope and joy to those who are struggling. This project came with quite a few deliverables including; the series art, web graphics, side screens, and social graphics.
The Solution:
In this project I created branding that was lighthearted and yet serious, a breath of fresh air in the month of January and as the teaching team tackled serious topic. I also had the challenge of creating art that felt like it leant itself well to the title while remaining distinct from the Disney movie. I began by creating work that was centered around a colorful and bright color palette and finding the balance between chaos and order in the relation to the challenge that mental health and emotions can have on all of us. I was inspired by the biology of our brains, the beauty of neurons and how our brains and bodies have the ability capability to navigate our emotions. I was also inspired by messiness of embroidery and element of fine art collage. The design I created uses color, pattern and clean typography, to abstractly depict the complexity of emotions and mental health. I created a number of iterations that all had a slightly different feel but represent the challenge of navigating emotions and mental health very well, while also providing a sense of hope within the design. The designs are fresh and play yet serious while also being very versatile with the number of deliverables that needed to be created from it. I am excited to share this art soon, once the project is live at Eagle Brook Church.
